Pueblo, CO (December 13, 2018) – American Bucking Bull, Inc. (ABBI) announced their changes for the 2019 season. New additions include a Derby World Champion, added money to the Futurity and Derby Finals, as well as a projected $83,000 in bonuses to the Top 10 in the Futurity World Finals.
“I am always looking for ways to make our competitive platforms easy to follow and to ensure we are making positive changes, and I believe every addition to the 2019 season continue to lead us in that direction.” said Jay Daugherty, ABBI Executive Director.
The Derby World Champion will be determined from the highest average over five outs – four regular season events and one out at the Velocity Finals. The Regular Season Derby Champion will be determined from the highest average score based on 4 outs through the regular season at any ABBI or ABBI Sanctioned event.
ABBI has also committed $15,000 in added money to the Derby World Finals and $25,000 in added money to the Futurity World Finals. The Futurity World Finals will also have a projected and estimated $83,000 in bonuses up for grabs for the Top 10 finishers.
Other changes cover entry fees, the removal of double entries, and World Finals qualifications.
A complete list of ABBI updates to the 2019 season are as follows:
o We are eliminating the $25 security and testing fee from each entry.
o We are eliminating regular season event drags on Yearling, Futurity, Derby and Maturity classes and instead will be doing a flat production fee of $250 per entry and $150 per entry on the Juniors and Cowgirls.
o Unless otherwise stated 2019 entry fees will be as follows:
o Leaving our payoffs to 1 for every 4 entries and the Juniors AND the Cowgirls will be 1 for every 3 entries.
o Changing the payoff %’s to take slightly from the top and redistribute to the bottom, nothing drastic but the bottom holes will pay more now.
o Unless approved prior to entries opening there will be no more double entries. A derby bull can still move up and down from event to event but no double entries, pick a class for that event.
o We are changing our dummy weight on all Yearling AND Futurity events to a 15lb dummy.
o Yearling / Jr Futurity / Cowgirl Futurity / Futurity / Derby / Classic
o Yearlings (EF’s $2,500): Open to all current ABBI registered Yearlings
o Junior Futurity Champion will be determined from the highest average score based on 5 outs including the Junior Finals. Any 4 outs at any ABBI or ABBI sanctioned event PLUS the out at the Junior Finals will be the ABBI Junior Champion.
o Cowgirls Futurity Champion will be determined from the highest average score based on 5 outs including the Cowgirls Futurity Finals. Any 4 outs at any ABBI or ABBI sanctioned event PLUS the out at the Cowgirls Finals will be the ABBI Cowgirls Champion.
o Futurity (Top 60 plus the top 2 from the sanctioning orgs. – EF’s $2,500 Two Full Rounds and Ave. payoff):
o Limited Futurity Finals: (EF’s $1,000)
o Derby: (EF’s $3,000): Top 40 Derby bulls entered based on the total money won standings. (ABBI is committing to $15K in added money to the Derby Finals.)
o Classic: (Top 35 plus Wildcards, EF’s $4,000)
These rules are subject to change, if there are any changes after publication those changes will be posted as soon as any changes are made.
