PUEBLO, Colo. (June 13, 2016)-American Bucking Bull Inc. (ABBI) held their annual American Heritage event in Duncan over the weekend. Over 250 bucking bulls from coast-to-coast came to compete at the Stephens County Expo Center. TBR Bucking Bull’s Buffalo Scott took home the Futurity title and just under $103,000 of the $450,000 paid out in prize money. In the open division, it was Lil 2 Train from Braindead Cattle Co. in first. In the Women’s class, Jo Black won with her bull 142 Magic Max. In the Junior division (ages 9-18), Cade Davis took home the gold buckle with his bull Lil Willard.
“We had another fantastic American Heritage event in Oklahoma this weekend,” said ABBI Executive Director Jay Daugherty. “We're thrilled to be continuing our relationship with Jim McLain and the city of Duncan. We couldn't ask for a better partner, or facility, to help grow what is already our biggest Futurity event each season.”
The American Heritage will be held in Duncan, Okla. through 2018. McLain, who produces the event, was recognized at the ABBI World Finals in Las Vegas as the 2015 Producer of the Year for his work on the event last year.
“I am proud of the entire team who made the American Heritage a huge success,” said McLain. “Without the support of the Duncan Convention Visitors Bureau, our County Commissioners and the City of Duncan we couldn’t have done it. We look forward to our continued involvement with American Bucking Bull, Inc."
Futurities are events for bulls 2 years of age. They buck with a weighted box (“dummy”) on their back which is released via remote control. Along with putting on competitive events for bucking bulls that pay out over $2 million annually, ABBI runs the largest DNA bucking cattle registry in the world. ABBI is a sister organization to PBR (Professional Bull Riders, Inc.), based in Pueblo, Colo.
