PUEBLO, Colo. (November 30, 2016)-American Bucking Horse Registry (ABHR) and World Class Bucking Horse Association (WCBHA) announced their event partnership today. The two organizations will hold a series of Bucking Horse Futurity events in 2017, cumulating with a World Finals in Las Vegas Nov. 3. The Finals will be held in conjunction with the American Bucking Bull Inc. (ABBI) World Finals at South Point Equestrian Center.
“We’re pleased to be partnering with ABHR this year on events and to be able to offer an estimated $225,000 purse over the course of the season,” said WCBHA Founder Bobby Pecora. “Having our Finals in Las Vegas will be a great opportunity grow the sport and to showcase our top saddle broncs to all of the fans in town for the PBR and ABBI World Finals.”
The top 30 bucking horses in the standings at the end of the regular season will be invited to compete at the Finals, where the top 15 riders will get on two head apiece. All bucking horses must be registered with ABHR and 4-5 years of age to compete.
“ABHR exists to document and preserve the bloodlines of equine athletes,” said ABHR and ABBI Executive Director Jay Daugherty. “By being able to guarantee the genetics and off spring of bucking horses, it increases the values of these animals- which in turn also increases the prize purses that can be offered at competitive events like the ones we are sanctioning with WCBHA.”
The 2017 season will kick off January 7 in Malta, Montana and will include events in Idaho, North Dakota and Canada over the course of the season.
