ABBI CANADA AND LLYODMINSTER EXHIBITION SIGN THREE-YEAR DEAL FOR CANADIAN HERITAGE FUTURITY AND CLASSIC EVENTS
Lloydminster, SK (January 20, 2017)-ABBI Canada and Lloydminster Exhibition Group announced at a joint press conference today that the 2019 ABBI Canadian Heritage Futurity and Classic will be held in conjunction with the Lloydminster Colonial Days Fair on July 12, 2019. There will also be a 2017 and 2018 ABBI Canada bucking bull event, The Road to the Canadian Heritage, leading up
to the 2019 event which will be held the Friday during Colonial Days.
“We are honoured to have this opportunity to work with the Lloydminster Exhibition Group on this illustrious event,” said ABBI Canada’s Justin Volz. “This is an event that will forever change the Canadian bucking bull industry!”
ABBI Canada will be paying out $100,000 to the top bucking bulls at the 2019 Canadian Heritage Futurity and Classic. Entry spots will be available starting
February 1 for stock contractors to secure a place in the 2019 event. ABBI holds competitive events for bucking bulls in Canada, America and Australia. Classic age bulls compete against bull riders whereas the younger Futurity bulls buck with a weighted box on their back that is released via remote control.
"We are proud to be a part of the development of this new event which will support the Canadian bucking bull industry," said LAEA's General Manager Mike Sidoryk. "It is grassroots initiatives like this that supports the longevity of the bucking bull and bull riding industry."
Lloydminster's first fair was held in 1904. Following the fair, the community decided to form an Agricultural Society. This Society was registered in Saskatchewan in 1906. A second Agricultural Society was incorporated in Alberta in 1908. In 1921, the societies merged and this united society has evolved into the Exhibition Association as it exists today.
ABBI is the world’s largest bucking cattle DNA registry and holds competitive events for bulls. A sister company to PBR (Professional Bull Riders), ABBI focuses
on preserving pedigrees, helping to develop animal’s natural athletic ability and rewarding the stock contractors who raise the bucking bulls. Between the three branches of ABBI, over $2.5 million is paid out to bucking bulls annually.
