If you attended last weekend's TwoBulls event, you may have been amazed at how quickly scores were available. ABBI's new system seamlessly shared scores across several informational platforms in Duncan, and it met with a great deal of enthusiasm from members in attendance.
Slade Long is the man responsible for the almost instantaneous scores which is the result of his tireless work to improve the way the ABBI processes event data. Perhaps the easiest way to explain it is to think of the system as a custom created in-house ABBI app.
"Last week in Duncan I ran the whole event using it - even the open classes. I was able to print results in less than 30 seconds after a class ended, and feed scores to the video screen in real time," said Long, the ABBI's Stats Analyst. "All of the results for Duncan were online within 3 minutes of the last bull score coming in."
The app Long created will ultimately tie together everything in a new ABBI website currently in development.
"We've been working hard to develop a website that will incorporate our registration website with our informational website,” said ABBI Executive Director Jay Daugherty. “Slade is putting the finishing touches on the new website and this app he created will allow everything to work seamlessly together and create the industry's most state-of-the-art system."
"It will be a central entry system where people can enter events online and it handles everything having to do with event entry and event results," Long explained. "It will generate season standings, and track every animal's entire competition career."
The system will also do the draw for classes, generate hip tags for an event, generate printable pdf judges sheets, receive scores from judging devices and calculate event results, placing, payout and point. At venues with internet capabilities, it can also send all results back to the website, print them, and feed them to venue video screens.
